While studying journalism, I visited the top media organizations in New York City and practiced multimedia storytelling in France!

I’m Gabrielle Lopez, writer and storyteller.

My curiosity led me to study journalism and sociology at the University of Oregon. I have since developed skills in reporting, writing, and editing to share stories about society for society. I knew I wanted to return to my hometown to support local newsrooms. I’m lucky to say I spend my weekdays producing overnight for Good Morning El Paso at ABC-7 (KVIA-TV).

Outside of broadcast news, I dedicated my free time and education to studying how social media changed our news consumption habits. At UO, I defended a thesis on how social media users interact with migrant news in El Paso. My research made it to the final round of the third annual Clark Honors College Three Minute Thesis competition.
